Huge bad luck Lucas Ocampos, former Sevilla FC player, who cannot avoid the tidal wave of setbacks and injuries that prevent him from enjoying continuity since leaving Nervión’s team for Mexico. Just two weeks before the start … of the Clausura 2026 of Liga MX, his club, Rayados de Monterrey, communicated worrying news on the state of health of the Argentine winger.
“The Monterrey Soccer Club reports that player Lucas Ocampos presented a facial paralysis of the left hemiface of probable viral etiology. Ocampos was evaluated by a specialist to determine the treatment to follow. The player will rest for 7 days and his clinical evolution will be evaluated to determine his reintegration into pre-season group work”, we read in the brief press release from the Rayados. It is therefore a problem of a neurological nature which affected the left half of the face of the 31-year-old footballer”, details the official note.
Ocampos now suffers from this facial paralysis after suffering a accident when he tried to help one of his daughters after a fall in a riding lesson. In the midst of the incident, the player was unlucky enough to lose control of a skateboard, skidded down a slope and ended up hitting the asphalt.
The result was a broken wrist and facial trauma. This situation held him back two months inactive. Now the Rayados medical team is giving him for the moment seven days of absolute restwhile waiting for a new check-up specifying the steps to follow and a time limit for reappearing.
This is the umpteenth obstacle that Ocampos has encountered since his arrival in September 2024 at Rayados, where he arrived from Sevilla FC as a star reinforcement. “January will be better”wrote Ocampos optimistically on his personal Instagram account, accompanied by a photo of his face with bruises and a patch, exuding optimism to get up and enjoy football as soon as possible.
