Lucinete Freitas, 55, a Brazilian woman missing since December 5, was found dead in Portugal, where she lived, according to the country’s judicial police.
A 43-year-old woman, also Brazilian, was arrested this Friday (19) on suspicion of killing Lucinete.
The victim, originally from Ceará, had been living in the town of Amadora, metropolitan region of Lisbon, since April and working as a nanny.
According to the Judicial Police, there is “solid evidence of the commission of a crime of qualified homicide, in its full form, and of a crime of desecration and concealment of a corpse that occurred in the Amadora region.”
Lucinete’s body was in a deserted location, in a wooded area and covered in objects.
“After intense and uninterrupted investigative work, it was possible to obtain corroborating evidence which made it possible to find the body of the victim and to identify, locate and detain the suspect,” the police said.
The crime took place for a trivial reason, according to the Portuguese police.
The manner of death has not been released, nor the name of the suspect.
When she disappeared, the Brazilian was going to visit a house to rent. She intended to take her 14-year-old son and her 55-year-old husband, who live in Fortaleza, to live with her in Portugal, according to TV Verdes Mares, a Globo subsidiary in Ceará’s capital.
