Former Bolivian President Luis Arce was arrested this Wednesday as part of a investigation into alleged corruption linked to the embezzlement of capital from the Indigenous Fund during the period he was Minister of Economy, as stated by his former Minister of the Presidency María Nela Prada. The former leader was transferred to a police cell in the city of La Paz.
“I want to denounce before the Bolivian people and before the international community what a moment ago They just kidnapped former president Luis Alberto Arce (…) by Sopocachi, a neighborhood in the city of La Paz,” said Nela Prada through a video published on her profile on the social network Facebook.
The former minister went to the headquarters of the Special Crime Fighting Force (FELCC), a specialized unit of the Bolivian police, where Arce was reportedly transferred. Nela Prada insisted it was “a totally illegal kidnapping” this happened when “he was alone”.
