President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) and First Lady Rosangela Lula da Silva, Janja visited this Saturday (13) Federal Deputy Roseana Sarney (MDB-MA), who is undergoing treatment for cancer.
The MP and her party’s social media profiles posted a photo of the visit.
According to the message, “the meeting was marked by gestures of affection, words of hope and confidence on the path to healing. Surrounded by expressions of support and solidarity, Roseana remains strengthened by the faith, affection and support of all.”
The federal MP published updates on her social network on her state of health and her progress during her treatment for breast cancer.
The former governor of Maranhão announced in August that she had been diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer. In the last three videos, published between October and November, she appeared with her head already shaved after chemotherapy, thanking the support she received online.
“It has not been easy to deal with triple negative breast cancer. I want to thank you for your love, your messages and your prayers. It is Pink October. The earlier the tumor is discovered, the greater the chances of recovery,” she said in a video posted on Instagram.
Triple negative breast cancer accounts for an average of 15% of breast cancer cases worldwide.
According to Oncoguia’s information, it differs from other types of invasive breast cancer in that it grows and spreads more quickly, has limited treatment options, and has a poorer prognosis. Therefore, chemotherapy is often used to treat triple negative breast cancer.
The term refers to the fact that cancer cells do not have estrogen or progesterone receptors and do not produce the HER2 protein. This is a protein that helps breast cancer cells grow quickly.
According to Gilberto Amorim, breast cancer specialist at Oncologia D’Or, there is a group of tumors classified as triple negative, which represent a challenge because the diagnosis is not simple and the patients are not candidates for hormonal blockade and anti-HER2 therapy. “This conjunction of three negative biological variables allows us to understand that it could be a cancer with more aggressive characteristics,” he says.
