
The government yesterday took the first policy step to enable Brazil to reduce its dependence on fossil fuels. Two weeks after the end of COP30, in Belém, President Lula issued a service mandate for four ministries – Civil Home, Mines and Energy, Finance and Environment and Climate Change – to deliver to the National Energy Policy Council (CNPE) a draft resolution containing the guidelines for a roadmap for the energy transition that moves the country away from coal, oil and gas.
