STF: The Colombian “helps” and Lula buys time for Christ in the Senate
He said in an interview with Boom Dia: “I can say that every time I talk to Trump, he surprises me. Because you see Trump very nervous on TV, and in a personal conversation, he is a different person. And I made sure to say to him: ‘We have two Trumps, Trump on TV and Trump in a personal conversation’. You can be sure that the chemistry between us has already happened, and Brazil will win, and the United States will win, because they are the two largest economies in the West, and we are in very good shape.” Ciara from Globo TV.
The conversation between the two leaders took place on Tuesday (2/12) and lasted about 40 minutes. According to a memorandum issued by the Brazilian government, Lula indicated to Trump that the decision to remove the 40% tariffs imposed on some Brazilian products, such as meat, coffee and fruits, was “very positive.”
On November 20, the White House eliminated the 40% tariffs applied by the United States on part of Brazilian agricultural products. With this decision, exports of fresh, chilled and frozen beef, cocoa and coffee products, some fruits, vegetables, nuts and fertilizers are no longer subject to tax.
Now, during an interview on Wednesday, Lula stated that “many things will happen” and that he is “convinced that good things will happen,” indicating that there may be further declines in taxes imposed by the North American government on Brazilian products.
“In the same way that the Brazilian people received bad news when President Trump announced taxes, I think we are close to hearing good news, in addition to the removal of some of our products from the taxes he imposed (…) I spoke seriously with Trump about the need for him to understand the need to strengthen the two largest democracies in the West: Brazil and the United States. Therefore, these taxes do not make any sense. I said it is important to review this (…) Therefore, it was an extraordinary conversation,” Lula emphasized.
Among other topics, Lula also said that he spoke with Trump about organized crime, pointing out that there are many people who commit crimes in Brazil, but “they live in Miami.” The Labor Party member stated that he sent a document to the US President in this regard.
