In dialogue with the press, María Corina Machado highlighted the crucial role of international support for the Venezuelan opposition facing the Nicolás Maduro regime, but stressed that “the most important aid will be that of our returning diaspora”.
The leader of Vente Venezuela said: “Without this we would not have come here The power of the people was always the focus and at the same time to have trusted the people.” In this sense, he expressed his “confidence” in Venezuelans, stressing that this generation “is better prepared than any other.”

Every year the Nobel Center organizes an exhibition in honor of the laureates. The institution hires a photographer from the awarded country, but this year turned to the Turkish photographer due to the political situation in Venezuela Emin Ozmenfrom the agency Magnumwho worked on covering the protests in Venezuela in 2019, material included in the exhibition.
The photographer recently traveled to Colombia for the Nobel Peace Center with the aim of photographing young Venezuelans migrating to the neighboring country. The exhibition, which accompanies the Machado exhibition in Oslo, collects both visual and audio evidence that express “Your hopes and visions for the future“.
According to the Norwegian Nobel Committee and the exhibition center itself more than eight million Venezuelans – a quarter of the country’s population – has left Venezuela since 2014. Currently, those who remain there face “poverty and fear” and live separated from family members who have been forced into exile.
The photographs taken by Özmen show young migrants whose voices can be heard in the room, telling their stories and expectations, accompanied by excerpts from Machado’s speeches about democracy and resistance.
The opening of the exhibition took place less than a day after María Corina Machado’s arrival in Oslo, after a clandestine trip fearing reprisals from the Chavista dictatorship of Nicolás Maduro.
In his recent statements, Machado also thanked the United States for the support provided to him in his departure from Venezuela and for the international pressure exerted against the regime of dictator Maduro.
The Venezuelan opponent avoided elaborating on the next steps of the international strategy to isolate Maduro in Latin America and the world, but confirmed that it remains in dialogue with relevant actors on the global stage.
