A vast police operation in several Italian provinces led to the arrest of 384 people, including 166 foreigners, and the seizure of more than 1,500 kilos of narcotics, mainly cannabis, but also cocaine and heroin.
The operation was coordinated by the Central Police Operations Service with the participation of agents from the Mobile Brigades.
At the end of the investigation, supported by the Crime Prevention Units, the security forces identified 95,164 people (including more than 10,000 minors and 16,000 foreigners) and arrested 384 people, including 166 foreigners and six minors.
During the operation, 35 kilos of cocaine, 1,370 kilos of cannabinoids and one kilo of heroin were seized. In addition, 41 firearms and 80 bladed weapons were seized, as well as more than 300,000 euros in cash, allegedly from drug trafficking, according to what the police said in a statement published on their website.
The operation also includes specific controls to verify the application of the new regulatory framework regarding the sale of hemp products in cannabis stores.
Specific controls resulted in the inspection of 312 stores throughout Italy; the seizure of five cannabis stores in three different cities; the arrest of three people and the denunciation of 141 owners or managers of cannabis stores; and the seizure of 296 kilos of cannabinoids, narcotics according to initial investigations.
