MADRID, December 28 (EUROPA PRESS) –
French President Emmanuel Macron lamented on Sunday the death at the age of 91 of actress and singer Brigitte Bardot, whom he described as a “legend of this century”.
“Her films, her voice, her dazzling fame, her initials, her sorrows, her generous passion for animals, her face that became Marianne: Brigitte Bardot embodied a life of freedom,” declared the president on his account on the social network.
The Elysée also published a press release in which it underlined that “Brigitte Bardot is the one through whom God created woman”, in reference to the film “And God Created Woman”, by Roger Vadim. “She was an absolute star of French and international cinema, a figure of women in the national imagination and a free and committed voice,” he said.
Likewise, he stressed that Bardot was “a free” and “committed” woman, after “having definitively resigned from cinema in 1973 to devote herself to the protection of animals, the great fight of her life”. “For the French, for millions of members and for so many volunteers, Brigitte Bardot embodied this cause of progress,” he praised.
“The President of the Republic and his wife pay tribute to a great actress, a free spirit, an icon who moved the world and embodied the French dream,” declared the Elysée, in which she transmitted the “most sincere condolences” of Macron and his wife to “the family, loved ones and all those who appreciated” Bardot.
