Man arrested after threatening and holding his mother in Carabanchel and attacking officers with knives

National Police officers arrested a 44-year-old man on Tuesday for threatening and holding his mother inside her home on Gómez de Arteche Street, in an event that occurred around 9:20 a.m. … Madrid neighborhood of Carabanchel Alto. As reported by the National Police, members of the Citizen Assistance Group (GAC) went to the home. Once inside the house, the individual, who was carrying two knives, lunged at the police with the intention of attacking them.

Police were called by the mother and her assistant, who were inside the property, after receiving threats from the son. Faced with the serious risk situation, one of the police officers fired two shots to repel the attack, hitting the attacker in non-vital areas, in the buttock and leg, as Summa 112 reports. Immediately, the police officers themselves applied a tourniquet and requested emergency medical assistance.

The injured man was treated by medical services and then transferred to hospital, where he remains stable and out of danger.

After the events, the man was arrested as allegedly responsible for the crimes of violation of precautionary measures and assault against a law enforcement officer.
