
A man was shot in the legs by military police and arrested while trying to break into a hospital in Uruburetama, in the interior of Ceará, with the aim of killing his hospitalized wife. The victim was hospitalized after being stabbed by her husband in front of their 7-year-old daughter. The attempted femicide took place this Sunday (12/7), at the homes of those involved.

The attacker, identified as Francisco José da Costa Gomes, is hospitalized under police escort and will be taken to the penitentiary unit as soon as he is released for medical reasons, according to a court decision that upheld his arrest.
In addition, the Court determined security protocols at the hospital to protect the victim, as well as urgent protective measures for her and her daughter. Francisco José is prohibited from approaching or having contact with both of them.
According to the Ceará Military Police, the man injured his wife with a knife and, while she was being treated, he tried to invade the hospital armed with knives. When he was approached, he attacked the police officers who fired to subdue him.
The weapons used during the action were seized and presented to the Itapipoca regional police station, where an investigation for attempted femicide was registered.
