
The Rio de Janeiro Civil Police arrested on Friday (19/12) the man suspected of killing his wife, dismembering and dismembering the victim’s body in a store in Santa Cruz, in the western zone of Rio.
Civil police officers from the Police Location Tracing Station (DDPA) arrested the suspect. The person indicted had two daughters with the victim, Karine Braz de Souza.
According to the investigation, the couple had had a difficult relationship for several years. The woman was considered missing since August 2025.

The killer recorded the incident himself, claiming he did not know what happened to his wife. During the investigation, officers noted several contradictions in the suspect’s statements.
Additionally, neighbors became suspicious of him when they reported the movement of a large sealed trash can. Police also discovered that he had recently leased land for a store in Santa Cruz.
In a new statement, according to civil police, the suspect confessed to killing the woman, transporting and dismembering her body, then hiding it on the floor of the store.
The teams immediately went to the scene and, with the support of the firefighters, found traces of blood and the remains of Karine.
