The 37-year-old man, arrested for rape of a vulnerable person on Thursday (12/11), after being discovered living with a 15-year-old girl since the age of 11, attacked the victim in various ways. According to the Amazonas Civil Police, on one of these occasions he recorded a video in which he appears to burn her with a lighter.
A vulnerable rape victim, the young girl became pregnant twice by the suspect, when she was 12 and 13 years old. The crimes were discovered after the Specialized Police Station (DEP) of Lábrea, a municipality located 702 kilometers from Manaus, received information about a case of domestic violence.

“During the investigation, we discovered that the victim is currently 15 years old and that she had lived since the age of 11 with the attacker, now 37 years old. They have two daughters, conceived when she was between 12 and 13 years old. At the time of the crime of domestic violence, the teenager was in police custody,” said delegate Kelly Souto.
Torture
According to information provided by the delegate, on November 26, the man allegedly threw several punches at the victim, in addition to uttering threats. The crimes were recorded on video by the attacker’s brother.
“The video shows the violent manner in which the attacker attacked the teenager, in front of her daughters. He even burned the victim with a lighter. Given the seriousness of the case, the court requested the preventive detention of the man,” the delegate reported.
The operation
Called Operation Anjos do Purus, the police action served to issue a preventive arrest warrant against the suspect. Delegate Paulo Mavignier, director of the Department of Internal Police (DPI), stressed that the operation included planning and organizing police teams to locate and bring to justice the perpetrator of the crime, who maintained an early marriage with the victim during a four-year cycle of violence.
“We traveled for about two days to the municipality to make the arrest. The actions of the DEP of Lábrea and the DPI show that there are no barriers for the Civil Police to ensure public safety inside Amazonas and act to protect children and adolescents,” said the delegate.
“With the arrest of the attacker, we managed to free the teenager, ending a cycle of violence that lasted four years,” concluded Kelly Souto.
The man will be charged with rape of a vulnerable person, assault and battery and threats, under the Maria da Penha law. He will be the subject of a custody hearing and remains available to the courts.
