Douglas Alves de Souza, 26, who ran over and dragged his ex Tainara Souza Silva, 31, has had an open wound on his arm since he was shot by civilian police on November 30 during his arrest for attempted femicide. The information was disclosed to Metropolises by his lawyer, Marcos Tavares Leal.

According to the defender, Douglas has not yet received any type of medical treatment. He is being held in the prison of the 26th police district (Sacomã), south of São Paulo.
“He is in prison with an open wound. (The bullet) pierced his right arm. He is all torn up. The custody hearing took place on Monday (01/12). So it has been seven days since the custody hearing, ten days since the shooting, and he has not yet received medical treatment. It is in a very unsanitary environment,” the lawyer said.
Leal emphasized that his client’s defense “is not about victimization” or “putting a hand on a criminal’s head,” as many say. “This is a humanitarian issue. Either the state takes care of the detainee or we end the democratic legal system and the Talion law, an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth, will prevail,” he told the reporter.
“My role today is to preserve his physical integrity,” added the lawyer. “No one agrees with Douglas’ attitude, but allowing more violence does not help society. »
At a custody hearing, Douglas said he was the victim of assault and possible torture by civilian police officers at the time of his arrest. According to the police report that recorded the capture, the boy attempted to steal the gun from an investigator, who responded by shooting.
Judge Paula Marie Konno, of the 2nd Jury of the Central Criminal Forum Court, asked the delegate in charge of the 26th DP for updated information on Douglas’ state of health, as well as possible medical care and use of medications.
The request, presented last Friday (5/12), has a deadline of 10 days and has not yet received a response from the police authority.
THE Metropolises asked the Public Security Secretariat (SSP) about the information disclosed by the lawyer, but received no response until the publication of this report. The space remains open.

Tainara is stable, says friend
Tainara was knocked down and dragged more than a kilometer by Douglas on the morning of November 29, in Marginal Tietê, north of São Paulo. The attack would have been motivated by jealousy, because he would not have accepted the end of the relationship. For the lawyer, the detainee denies having had any romantic relationship with the victim.
She suffered serious injuries and had to have both legs amputated at the Vereador José Storopolli Municipal Hospital, where she was hospitalized until being transferred to the Hospital das Clínicas last Friday (12/05). Since then, the victim of an attempted femicide has undergone several surgeries and required the assistance of breathing machines.
This Monday (12/8), a friend of Tainara told Metropolises that she is stable and would undergo further surgery. “Let it be the last one, that’s enough, for God’s sake,” he said.
Tainara is the mother of two children, a 12-year-old boy and an 8-year-old girl, and lives alone with them.
Man runs over and drags his ex
Security cameras captured the moment Tainara was run over and dragged by Douglas. In the images, it is possible to see that she was accompanied by another boy when she was hit by a black car. The scene is strong.
The collision occurred moments after an argument between the suspect, the woman and a man who accompanied her at an area bar. A friend who was in the car at the time of the collision, identified as Kauan Silva Bezerra, said he went to the bar with the suspect and they ended up finding Tainara there talking to a boy.
Douglas then became “enraged” and started an argument. Kauan then called his friend to leave, but when he got in the car, Douglas drove around the Tietê River and ran over the victim.
Kauan also said in his statement to police that the perpetrator and the victim had ended their relationship shortly before the crime. This argument contradicts Douglas’ version, which went so far as to assert that he did not know Tainara.
