In March there will be regional elections in Castile and León and, for the second time, separated from the municipal elections from which they “separate” with the electoral advance of 2022. But in a Community with great local weight and more than 6,000 towns and 2,248 municipalities, the Popular Party is clear that mayors and councilors must play a role in the campaign, even if it is not theirs. The president of the party and candidate for re-election, Alfonso Fernández Mañueco, has already repeated this several times; he is already a municipal “force”, he appealed again during a meeting with his party’s councilors in the Segovian town of El Espinar. The mayors and councilors of the PP of Castilla y León “are the best example of useful and effective management”, defended Mañueco himself in a message on his X profile, accompanied by a video with excerpts from this meeting. “You demonstrate it daily in every city and in every neighborhood, always close to your neighbors,” said the popular baron, while giving homework to his people before the meeting which will take place in just three months – still without a specific date. “We are ambitious and we are not going to relax: in March we risk a better future for #CastillayLeón”, he added in the publication on the social network, in which he thanks “in advance for all the work you are going to do in these regional elections”. “I am clear that these elections, which are not municipal, are going to be experienced as if they were municipal and, above all, the work that mayors and councilors must do is essential,” Mañueco stressed out loud to his people. “As you say, vote by vote, door by door,” added one of those present, with the agreement of Mañueco, who did not miss the opportunity to bring to the electoral field the rain of millions that the extraordinary Christmas draw left in Castilla y León, especially in El Gordo, with more than 700 million in the province of León. But also, the popular leader emphasized, this happened in Zamora, Salamanca, Burgos, Segovia… “This means that things are going well,” he emphasized. And besides, to continue this momentum: “We need the ‘Gordo’ in March”, referring to the next regional elections. Elections, Mañueco warned, in which “what Sánchez wants is not the victory of the PP, but the victory of other forces.” “And what hurts Sánchez the most is that the Popular Party wins,” added the baron of the seagull formation, who recalled the message with which the PP of Castilla y León presents itself to this meeting “it is not only” about the past of what has been achieved, but about “projecting into the future”. “We want Castilla y León to be among the three best communities to live in Spain.”
