Last night, on their first date This year’s river – and for the third time in her career, a milestone no other Argentine artist has reached – María Becerra established herself as one of the most popular Argentine singers of her generation.
The personal journey that María talks about in her album chimera and that he is shown on the show is crossed by four alter egos to which he gave names. According to the singer Shanina, JOJO, Maite and Gladys They helped her heal and through them she was able to explore different nuances of her personality. During a concert, which was also a theater performance, with sensitivity on the surface, all facets made accessible.
The nearly three-hour show was divided into five stages, representing the universe and aesthetic of each of the singer’s alter egos. The round stage in the middle, the band in the fountain and the huge screens at various strategic points of the venue guaranteed an immersive experience of international quality to the 85,000 spectators who gathered at the Monumental Stadium.
Between acting, choreography, five costume changes and more than 70 people on stage – including dancers, actors and choristers – the audience was immersed in the world of a María Becerra, very different from the one presented in “River” last year. Far from the reggaeton of her beginnings, María was encouraged to take risks and opted for a different style that strengthened her role as an actress and showed her as disruptive and sincere.
Shanina, Ruled under the element of water, she was responsible for opening the evening with “Ramen for two” together with Paulo Londra, the show’s first surprise guest. It was surprising that the first song will not have the singer’s absolute protagonism and that she has chosen to share the beginning with the ragpicker from Cordoba. As Shanina, María also sang “Infinites like the sea,” “Until I fall in love,” “Hopefully,” and “When we make love.”
The second “era” and the most sensitive concert was performed by Maite which, ruled by the air element, reveals the most self-demanding and vulnerable version of María on her album. At that moment, Abel Pintos took the stage and sang “I remember it never existed,” setting off a wave of screams and applause on the field. The section continued with “Empty Heart” and “My Weakness” and also included the participation of Tiago PZK, who sang “Among us” and brought another ovation from the audience.
The third big moment of the night was all about the element of earth and led back to the roots of Mary. His alter ego Gladys He stood out for his overwhelming, fun and danceable energy. For this section, the singer created a theatrical scene that illustrated an everyday dinner in her hometown. The performance was attended by the singer’s royal family, who were encouraged to dance and perform with her on stage. Ariel Puchetta, from Rafaga, appeared to star in one of the night’s most famous comedy skits, which included a medley of “Liar” and “Adiós.”
After almost two hours of show, the fourth and final alter ego appeared: Jojo. Ruled by the element of fire, this segment was dominated by sensuality and disrespect. The stage turned into a big parade full of empowerment and diversity. With “It’s hot,” the artist lit up the entire stadium and surprised the scene by appearing on a giant scorpion in the best Katy Perry style.
After 11 p.m., Gabriel Rolón spoke off-camera about the different emotional nuances that the four alter egos experienced in the show, in order to now present María in her real and vulnerable facet.
For this final phase of the show, María invited people on stage Taichu – their opening act – played “Lose my head”.
The conclusion was in the hands of an intimate and emotional performance, with María in a duet with her friend J Rei. Together they climbed over the river stage to perform. My love”. MWhile thousands of fans sang the song and showed their support for the couple, Rei María showed off a tattoo on her arm that brought real tears from the singer. The star of the evening could not contain her emotions, she stopped singing and melted into the embrace of her partner, sealing a moving conclusion that captivated the audience. “Thank you very much!”, María managed to say together over the microphone before leaving the scene hand in hand with Rei and without the bonus track.
This Saturday María will return to the Monumental to complete her series of two 360° shows and reach her fourth River Plate.
