
Venezuela’s opposition leader, Maria Corina MachadoNobel Peace Prize winner, led a press conference this morning in Oslo, Norway, where she resurfaced after coming out of hiding. “I am very hopeful”said.
He also revealed that he plans to bring the award back to Venezuela, but refused to reveal when he would return to the Caribbean country after leaving the country in complete secrecy to accept the award.
Venezuelan opposition leader Machado arrived in Oslo early Thursday morning but did not arrive in the Norwegian capital in time for the awards ceremony, which took place hours earlier. Events were also planned for them on Thursday.
The 58-year-old engineer had secretly left Venezuela for Oslo, defying authorities’ decade-long travel ban after more than a year in hiding. “I have come to accept the award on behalf of the Venezuelan people and I will bring it back to Venezuela in due course.”She told reporters in Parliament, dressed in white. “Of course I won’t say when.”, added.
