The socuellamina María Dolores Mazuecos, of the Asocaviso Association, won the final of the CATA WINE League of Castile-La Mancha 2025an event organized last Sunday at the Castiblanque cellars in Campo de Criptana.
Second place was also … of Socuéllamos, Hyacinth Trilloand third place went to Javier Peinadofrom Villanueva de los Infantes, who had to break the tie with Francisco Javier Lara.
The trophies awarded to the winners were offered by Santiago Rodríguez Quílez, who made them expressly for the occasion. The tasting ended with a tasting of typical Campo de Criptana productssuch as sausages from Arrea, bread from Orejón, Manchego cheese from Pérez Arquero and wines from Castiblanque. During the tasting, recognition was given to Jaime Villena for leading the finale and to Bodegas Castiblanque for hosting the event.
The finalists had to face five demanding tests designed to measure precision, olfactory memory and analytical ability, having to identify white and red grape varieties, classify wines by sweetness and alcoholic strength and determine the specific vintage of four samples of the same grape variety.
María Dolores Mazuecos got 14 pointswhile the rest of the podium was played out with a narrow margin of just three points. The second edition of the Castilla-La Mancha Wine League presented six tests during the current year which took place in the towns of Campo de Criptana (Bodega Símbolo), Villanueva de los Infantes (Suridan-Tierra de la Libertad), Villarrobledo (Sercowine and Gran Vía Solutions), School of Agricultural Engineers of the UCLM of Ciudad Real, Jumilla (Denomination of Origin) and again Campo de Criptana (Campo de Wine Cooperative Criptana). This event is an initiative ofAssociation of Tasters of Castile-La Mancha based in Tomelloso.
