Maury Lima, son of singer Mauri Lima, who died in an accident this Sunday (12/7), used social networks this Monday (12/8) to detail his last moments with his father. The two were together in the van that transported the national team.
The accident occurred around 2 p.m. on the Régis Bittencourt highway, near Miracatu, in the interior of São Paulo. The musicians were returning home from a performance in Curitiba (PR), which lasted until dawn, when the driver suddenly fell ill and the van ended up colliding with a trailer.

To his followers, Maury reported that his father was happy and happy during the trip and that everyone was surprised. Besides the country duet with Maurício, roadie and trainer Douglas Rivas also died in the accident.
“Everyone woke up and we were happy, making music, making up lyrics, and we even put it on the van stereo. My dad never let me do it, but this time he had fun and let me do it, which I thought was pretty cool because the reason he let me do it was because he liked what I was producing,” he recalls.

The singer was still alive after the accident. The son tried to call for help, but Mauri Lima did not survive his injuries. The young man, on the other hand, was not seriously injured.
“In the middle of the examination, I only saw the driver turn the van towards the stopped truck, where he took the place of my father and my friend and roadie, Douglas Riva. Douglas left immediately. I saw this, I saw the van destroyed internally, I saw my friend faint, another asking for help, I broke the window with my hands, to get out of the van, I turned around and went to the driver’s seat to see my father, he was alive, he was breathing,” he reported.
Before his passing, Maury reported that the singer said goodbye to him, his wife and daughter via audio call. “While I was talking to him, I called for help, I had to resolve everything and always be with him, seeing him in this state, but alive. I told him how much I loved him, my mother and my sister spoke to him about custody, he listened, he cried and it was his last breath,” he confessed.

The family speaks out
The death of Mauri Lima, brother of Chitãozinho and Xororó, affected the entire country music scene in Brazil. On social media, the family shared their tributes and mourned the singer’s death.
“Uncle, may your soul be welcomed in love and peace, as you deserve. May God take care of you and support your family,” singer Sandy wrote while sharing a photo alongside her uncle.
In a recent interview with Ratinho, in the presenter’s show on SBT, Mauri even commented on his relationship with his brothers and nephews.
“In today’s world, it’s difficult to get together, everyone has their family, their hustle, their commitments and their travels. When the end of the year comes, it’s sacred, we plan to sit down, get together,” he commented.
