Mauri Lima’s son shares his last moments with his father

Maury, son of the singer Mauri Limashared a detailed and moving account of the last moments alongside his father, who died on Sunday (12/7) after an accident on the Régis Bittencourt highway, in São Paulo.

The country singer was returning from a show in Curitiba when the Mauricio and Mauri duo’s van collided with a trailer. In addition to the artist, musician Douglas Riva, a member of the team, also died.

Maury’s explosion

On social networks, Maury recalled that he had shared the stage with his father just a few hours before the tragedy. He described what work was like that day and the atmosphere of the salon. According to the singer, the show began with his participation, followed by his father’s duet. The event lasted longer than expected.

“I started, then Maurício and Mauri arrived. The owner of the party, who is a great friend of my father, asked me to play longer, so my father and I continued for another 35 minutes of show.” The artist emphasized the harmony between the two at that time. “We sang together, we did what we always did, we did what we loved to do, sing together and have fun, bring joy to people.”

After the presentation ended early in the morning, Maury said the team moved to the hotel where they would rest before the return trip. He reported the routine of this dawn. “The show ended at 5 a.m. The van driver was sleeping at the Bourbon Hotel in Curitiba, another van picked us up to go to the hotel where we had breakfast, loaded the van and headed to Indaiatuba-SP. Everyone slept, we woke up for lunch at 12:30.”

Light climate

The artist also said that the group was relaxed when they resumed their journey after lunch. According to him, the atmosphere was light and musical. “After lunch everyone woke up and we were happy, making music, making up lyrics and we even put it on the stereo in the van. My dad never let me do it, but this time he had fun and let me do it, which I thought was pretty cool because the reason he let me do it was because he liked what I was producing.”

Maury also described how he witnessed the accident. According to the report, the accident directly affected the place where the father and his friend Douglas were located.

“In the middle of the examination, I only saw the driver turn the van towards the stopped truck, where he took the place of my father and my friend and roadie Douglas Riva. Douglas left immediately, I saw that, I saw the van destroyed inside, I saw my friend faint, another one asking for help.”

“It was his last breath”

The singer said he had to break the window with his own hands to get out. He then approached his father to try to help him and maintain contact until help arrived. “He was alive, he was breathing. While I was talking to him, I called for help, I had to resolve everything and always be with him, seeing him in this state, but alive. I told him how much I loved him, my mother and my sister spoke to him about custody. He listened, cried and, like that, it was his last breath.”

In honor of his father, Maury reinforced the love and admiration he felt for him. “I learned so much from you dad, I learned how to work, how to be on stage, how to love and how to pursue everything, listen, I just wish I could hug you one more time. I love you always and forever dad.”

Tribute to Douglas

The singer also dedicated part of the message to Douglas Riva, emphasizing the close relationship he had with him and the affection the team had for the musician.

“I liked him very much, he treated me with affection, he hugged me, at the end of all my presentations he was the one who greeted me first and congratulated me.”

He recalled the moments before the accident and said Douglas was dearly loved by everyone. “I want to clarify that Douglas was very loved by everyone, my father selected the whole team and took care of everything, he always put who he liked, in this show which was for his friend, he chose his favorites, not only as musicians but as friends, we put on a very special show and it was his last show, with a team that he loved and for friends that he regards very highly.”
