Mega da Virada: find out what you can buy with a price of R$1 billion

Mega da Virada’s possible billion reais prize would also allow the winner to purchase at least 15 models of new helicopters, such as the Airbus H145 – used by Santos striker Neymar. The plane is valued at between 50 and 65 million BRL.

With Mega-Sena’s billion-dollar jackpot, it would also be possible to buy ten used Pilatus PC-24 jets, worth around 80 million reais.

Real estate

Anyone lucky enough to win the biggest prize in Mega-Sena history may also choose to invest in purchasing real estate. The exact number of houses that can be purchased with R$1 billion depends on a series of factors, such as the region in which the property is located and its total size.

If you choose a house in the center of São Paulo (SP), the winner of the billionaire jackpot will be able to buy more than 300 second-hand apartments with an area between 100 and 200 square meters.

With a CDI (intrabank certificate of deposit) of around 14% per year in 2025, an application of Mega da Virada’s maximum price of R$1 billion would bring in around R$140 million per year. Per month, the income would be approximately R$11.6 million.

Generally speaking, the CDI is an interest rate applied to very short-term loans between banks themselves to balance their cash flows, functioning as a fundamental indicator of fixed income in Brazil. Many investments (CDB, LCI or LCA) earn a percentage on this rate, which closely follows the Selic (country base interest rate).

The biggest prize in history

The initially predicted value for the Mega da Virada prize was R$850 million, but was updated last Monday (12/22) to R$1 billion. Caixa reported that this year’s value is 57% higher than that paid in 2024 at Mega da Virada. That year, 635.4 million reais were distributed among the eight winners.

The first Mega da Virada took place in 2009. Since then, 130 punters have reached the six tens which guaranteed millionaire prizes.

The Mega da Virada 2025 draw is scheduled for December 31 at 10 p.m. (Brasilia time), broadcast online. Caixa informs that the amount does not accumulate. If no one gets all six tens, the amount will be divided between those who get the corner or the square.

How to bet

Bets on Mega da Virada can be placed until 8 p.m. on December 31 at lottery points across the country.

The betting registration service will also be available until the same period through the Loterias Caixa portal, the Loterias Caixa application, for users of the Android and iOS platforms and through Internet Banking Caixa (IBC).

Bets on Mega da Virada start at R$6, which corresponds to a six-number game. The bettor can choose games with up to 20 numbers. In this case the cost is R$232.56 thousand.
