The current broadcast of the podcast The Roro Network sparked a wave of criticism on social networks after several of its members made fun of the party’s young representative ONPEwho appears in the informative videos about the electoral process and the distribution of seats.
In the clip that went viral, you can see the program team playing the institutional video while some of the presenters – in particular Jhovan Tomasevich and Carlos Orozco— react with laughter, mocking comments and derogatory comparisons about the young man’s appearance.
The only member who did not join in the mockery was Macla Yamadawho even openly asked why they were laughing.

The original ONPE video had a simple goal: to explain in a clear and didactic way how to determine how many seats each political organization gets in both the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies.
In it, the young official develops the information in understandable language and tries to familiarize citizens with the concepts of official counting. However, when it was played during the broadcast, the atmosphere took a different direction and was unrelated to its informative purpose.

The members of the “Roro Network” begin to prevent him from carefully observing the young man’s face. Laughing, one of them says, “Let’s see, break, break, break. What’s wrong, Johan? I can’t see well,” whereupon they bring him closer to the screen.
Immediately, the comments become more and more concise until one of the moderators makes a sentence that refers to the young man’s alleged sexual orientation, which is met with rejection by the audience. Macla YamadaHe, visibly uncomfortable, intervenes to question the team’s behavior: “Why are you laughing?” However, the mockery continues and even leads to comparisons that are taken out of context and have no connection to the young man’s professional work ONPE.

Discontent spread quickly. Miscellaneous Influencers, Tiktokers and Content Creators They denounced the incident and pointed out that the La Roro Network had crossed a line by publicly mocking a young man who was merely fulfilling his institutional duties.
Among the most commented on videos were those broadcast by various users on TikTok questioning the lack of professionalism and mocking speeches of the members of the podcast. The critics agreed on one key point: it was not humor, but rather a mockery directed at the demeanor and language of an official who provided useful information for the country.
Disapproval of the program’s behavior was also clearly reflected in public comments. “How disrespectful to a young man just doing his job,” was one of the most shared reactions. Another user lamented: “It’s sad to see these videos. I don’t understand the laughter. Are they making fun of his intelligence, his youth, his eloquence?” Outrage among those who knew the young man or had had him as a teacher multiplied, highlighting his academic ability, preparation and professionalism. For many, what happened was not a mere blip, but a case of normalized discrimination disguised as entertainment.

The discussion also spilled over into a broader debate about the responsibility of content creators. Several users recalled that members of the program are communicators and should therefore be more aware of the impact of their words. “They are communicators, they shouldn’t do that,” commented one user, whose opinion was widely agreed upon. Others recalled that ONPE – as a state institution – promotes this content to inform the population, and not to be ridiculed or disqualified by media representatives.
Various influencers reinforced this idea in their own videos, pointing out that such attitudes perpetuate prejudices and fuel discourses of ridicule that particularly affect young professionals exposed on networks. Some stressed that attacking a person’s appearance or expression is a practice that should be considered unacceptable in any public space, especially in a space with a wide reach like the La Roro Network. “There is a line between humor and humiliation, and it has clearly been crossed here,” said one of the most shared YouTubers on TikTok.

To date, La Roro Network has not issued a statement or formal statement on the incident. However, social pressure continues to grow and the episode has opened a debate about communication ethics, the responsibility of content creators and respect for professionals working for public institutions.
Meanwhile, the young man from ONPE has unwillingly become the center of a national discussion about the importance of respect in digital media and the role of those who have platforms with thousands of followers.
