According to information from the journalist Luis Fabianiresponsible for the Timão sector in Radio Bandeirantesduring the celebration, the star took shots at Alvinegro’s leaders, stating that: “To the directors who are screwing this club, leave. Corinthians needs structure”.
As well as scoring in the final, Memphis Depay was also crucial to the São Paulo club’s advance against Cruzeiro in the semi-final, scoring his team’s winning goal at the Mineirão.
In the round of 16, he also found the net by scoring against Palmeiras, at the Neo Química Arena, paving the way for Timão to also win the second match.
