Corinthians striker mocks athlete after Brazilian Cup final, while teammates praise youngster Vasco
Author of one of the goals in Corinthians’ 2-1 victory against Vasco, at the Maracanã, Memphis Depay used his own profile to provoke midfielder Cauan Barros, recalling an episode from the first match of the decision and mocking the young Cruz-Maltino after the title in black and white.
The friction between the two began from the first confrontation of the final. During a tackle near the baseline, Memphis remained on the ground and heard Cauan Barros yelling at him to get up. Check it out:

The scene went viral and was widely celebrated by Vasco’s fans. The outcome being favorable to the Corinthians, the Dutchman decided to react.
On social networks, Memphis reposted a video in which he appears to be provoked by the Vasco midfielder, followed by another movement in which Cauan Barros is dribbled by Breno Bidon.
In the caption, Timão’s number 10 joked: “Get up 🤣🤣🏆🏆. Oh, this boy cooked“, an expression in English that can be translated as “this boy was humiliated“.
In another publication, he provoked again by praising his teammate. “Here you have to be humble. We don’t make small talk. Breno Bidon, you are different. You’ve made the boy famous now. Get up now“, he wrote.
The provocation was not limited to the networks. Taking part in the Podpah podcast, other Corinthians players also commented on the episode. Matheuzinho called Cauan Barros ‘lazy’ when remembering the Memphis deal, while Hugo Souza and Raniele joked when talking about the Vasco midfielder.

Despite the blows, the atmosphere of the interview was also one of recognition of the adversary. Hugo Souza and Raniele congratulated Rayan and Andrés Gómez, identified as Vasco’s main strengths in the decision.
The goalkeeper highlighted Rayan’s talent and classified him as one of the futures of Brazilian football, in addition to mentioning the quality of names like Coutinho, Nuno Moreira and Gómez himself. Raniele, in turn, joked praising the intensity of the Colombian striker, impressed by the player’s physical ability until the last minutes of the match.
On the pitch, Corinthians confirmed their superiority in the decisive duel and lifted the Copa do Brasil trophy thanks to goals from Yuri Alberto and Memphis Depay.
