As reported on Monday (29/12/2025), representatives of the Secretariats of National Defense (Sedena) and Navy (Semar) of Mexico held a technical meeting with members of the United States Northern Command to strengthen their security capacities during the events related to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

During the meeting, members assessed the activities planned for 2026, with a focus on operational coordination and strengthening procedures to improve the joint response to scenarios related to the 2026 World Cup, the report said.
The agency added that the activity aims to strengthen “cooperation procedures” and the use of “integrated communications systems” to consolidate capabilities during the 2026 World Cup, which Mexico will organize jointly with the United States and Canada.
“Board members assessed the activities planned for 2026, strengthened cooperation procedures and the use of integrated communication systems to consolidate security capacities during the 2026 World Cup,” he explained in his note.
Sedena added that the participation of both countries “improves cooperation procedures” and contributes to strengthening the capabilities of the armed forces of Mexico and the United States, without mentioning specific agreements, operational calendars or additional leeway derived from the meeting.
