Today, Wednesday (12/3), former First Lady Michelle Bolsonaro responded to the criticism of journalist Alan dos Santos, who has been on the run from Brazilian justice since 2021 and lives in the United States. Michelle stated, in a post on Instagram, that she “always agrees and believes” with her husband, former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL), and that she respects his leadership.
Alain needlepointed Michelle when he said, in a video, that she did not care about her husband, who is currently imprisoned in the Federal Police Watch (PF), in Brasilia, for his conviction in the coup plot case. This statement was issued on Monday (1/12) amid internal tension in the Bolsonaro family, after Michelle criticized the approach of the PL Directorate in Ceará with Ciro Gomez (PSDB).
In response, Bolsonaro’s wife published a note stating that Alan is not close to the family to make a statement of this level. “He doesn’t know our routine, he doesn’t know how our lives have been turned upside down, let alone understand my role as mother, wife and president of PL Mulheur,” the former first lady said. Michel confirms that the appointments on her agenda were not canceled at the request of Jair Bolsonaro.
“My husband asked me not to cancel agendas, especially since we have election deadlines to meet, in addition to the mission of training our leaders, delivering a word of faith and hope to our people and encouraging good people not to give up,” Michelle says.
PL leader Mulher explains that, in addition to her professional commitments, she devotes herself to taking care of the health of the couple’s daughter, Laura Bolsonaro, 15 years old, and organizing the meals of the former president, which Michel’s brother, Eduardo Torres, takes daily to the National Front’s oversight body. According to the former First Lady, if she was allowed to, she would be by her husband’s side every day.
“If I could, I would be with my husband all day,” says Michelle, “but unfortunately Minister Alexandre de Moraes limited our visits to maybe twice a week and only for 30 minutes.”
She ends by saying that it is very easy to judge when you are on the other side, and that Alan’s accusation was made without “considering the impact and suffering” it could cause. “I’m just with my daughter, trying to manage everything, be strong to support my husband and take care of Laura’s health, which has not been the same since the attack,” the former First Lady concluded.
