Even with an offer from Middle Eastern football and a higher salary than he currently receives, midfielder Giovanni Augusto has decided to stay at Chapecoense for next season.
According to the investigation by Rangel Agnolin, of Canal Mais Sports, the decision led the management of Verdão do Oeste to bring forward the renewal of the contract with the midfielder, who has a contract with the club until April 2026.
Given his stay, the idea of the Alviverde board of directors is to renew the contract before the start of the Santa Catarina Championship, with the possibility of extension until the end of 2027.
For Verdão, Giovanni Augusto has 71 matches. In 2025, he was one of the main players of Chapecoense, between Catarinense and Brasileirão Série B, distributed 11 assists and scored three goals.
