According to official sources, Argentine President Javier Milei will travel to Norway this Monday (August 12, 2025) to attend the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado.
The president will arrive in Oslo on Tuesday and will be received by Norwegian King Harald V after the awards ceremony on Wednesday. According to the official agenda, he will then meet with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store.
Machado, who lives in secret in his country, confirmed his attendance at the ceremony and will receive the award amid US military operations in the Caribbean and Pacific that have killed some 87 people.
The 58-year-old opposition leader received the Nobel Prize “for her tireless commitment to the democratic rights of the Venezuelan people and for her fight for a just and peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy.”
In Buenos Aires, the Venezuelan community will gather at the Centro Venezolano Argentino to watch the broadcast of the ceremony on the big screen.
