Milton Nascimento almost gave up his career for good. According to the singer’s son, Augusto Nascimento, the artist went through a serious period of depression between 2013 and 2014.
“I didn’t want to move to Rio and he was very alone in the city. He started going to Juiz de Fora, where I studied, to be near me. He had stopped his career and there was no prospect of returning,” Augusto recalled in an interview with the Brazilian Union of Composers.

Augusto also shared how he took on his father’s role as a businessman. He was already taking care of Milton’s copyright and decided to organize a concert at the Palácio das Artes, in Belo Horizonte, which was a success.
