The Ministry of Justice informed the Supreme Federal Court (STF) this Monday 22, that it has asked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to extradite former federal deputy Alexandre Ramagem (PL-RJ).
The letter was sent to the office of Minister Alexandre de Moraes in response to an electronic message sent by the magistrate on December 17.
According to the document, the extradition request was formalized the same day with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Ministry of Justice also informed that new information on the case will be transmitted to the Federal Court as soon as it becomes available.
Alexandre Ramagem saw his mandate revoked last Thursday 18th by the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Deputies.
Former director of the Brazilian Intelligence Agency (Abin) in the government of Jair Bolsonaro (PL), Ramagem lost his mandate due to a conviction within the STF for participation in the coup attempt. The decision also makes him ineligible and removes him from the electoral scene. He was sentenced to 16 years and one month in prison. Banned from leaving the country, he failed to comply with the court order and fled Brazil to the United States.
