The almost century-old “Reinações de Narizinho”, the first edition of which dates from 1931, will be translated into Chinese, Swedish and Azeri for publication in China, Sweden and Azerbaijan.
And “The Girl with the Little Upturned Nose”, from 1920, which gave birth to the universe of Sítio do Picapau Amarelo, will be translated into Russian.
All four editions were reviewed by the National Library’s Translation Assistance Program and will receive a total of $14,000 to help local publishers launch the books.
