Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Supreme Federal Court (STF), responded to a request from the defense of former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and granted permanent authorization for visits by his wife, former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro, every Tuesday and Thursday.
Since Bolsonaro was arrested last month, all visits must be authorized by Moraes. The former president is serving his sentence at the Superintendence of the Federal Police (PF) in Brasilia.
Bolsonaro is serving the 27 years and three months in prison he received from the STF for attempted coup. So far, the former president has welcomed, in addition to Michelle, his children Flávio, Carlos, Jair Renan and Laura.
The Minister of the Supreme Court also responded to a request from the federal police to regulate the flow of correspondence addressed to the former president.
The PF suggested, and Moraes agreed, the adoption of a standardized protocol consisting of four steps: reception of correspondence, preliminary security inspection, direct delivery to Bolsonaro, unless restricted due to content, and delivery to family members or authorized third parties for safekeeping.
In addition, Moraes authorized Bolsonaro to perform physiotherapy sessions during weekday tanning hours, in accordance with medical prescription.
