The Minister of the Federal Court (STF), Alexandre de Moraes, joked that the suspension of the secret budget trial before the Tribunal on December 15, 2022, saved his life, because the criminal organization planned to execute the magistrate that day.
Rapporteur of the trials linked to the coup attempt, Moraes joked that suspending the trial of the case would have saved his life, after Minister Flávio Dino said that “the secret budget always appears” in these cases.
“On the 12th, there were illegal acts against the Federal Police, all the chaos generated by the criminal organization in Brasilia. On the 13th, surveillance agents asked where I was, saying that I had gone to São Paulo, for obvious reasons, and that I would return on the 14th. So the date was set for the 15th (the assassination of the minister). Moraes detailed.

Chairman of the first panel, Dino is the rapporteur of the STF deliberations concerning the secret budget and parliamentary amendments. Last week, the minister authorized an operation by the Federal Police (PF) targeting a former advisor to the former President of the Chamber of Deputies, Arthur Lira (PP-AL).
Complaint
Filing a complaint against the accused of the attempted coup, the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) declared that the plan to assassinate Minister Alexandre de Moraes did not succeed only because the criminal network discovered that, on December 15, 2022, the trial was suspended at the request of Minister Ricardo Lewandowski.
The information “only reached” the scammers thanks to a report from the Metropolises. Following Lewandowski’s request for a suspension, the then President of the Court, Minister Rosa Weber, postponed the analysis of the secret budget trial until the following week, which ended up undermining the coup plan, later discovered after an investigation by the federal police.
