Federal deputy Bia Kicis (PL-DF) criticized the decision of Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the STF (Federal Supreme Court), to note the loss of the mandate of Bolsonaro supporter Carla Zambelli (PL-SP), less than 24 hours after the Chamber rejected the dismissal of the parliamentarian.
“Minister Alexandre’s decision regarding Carla Zambelli shows us, once again, a judiciary that stopped applying the law and started creating its own law to interfere in politics,” he said. “When a minister replaces the Constitution with his thoughts, there is no Justice, there is abuse of power.”
In the early hours of Thursday (11), the House maintained Zambelli’s mandate. The voting score was 227 to 170. To be impeached, she would need to have received at least 257 votes. The parliamentarian was sentenced in May to dismissal and ten years in prison by the STF (Federal Supreme Court) for having hacked the system of the CNJ (National Council of Justice) with the help of hacker Walter Delgatti Neto, also convicted. She is stuck in Italy, where she fled.
Bia Kicis says the result of the vote “was a big surprise” because “many people worked for his impeachment.” “But it would be a great injustice and it would also set an extremely dangerous precedent,” he says.
In the CCJ (Constitution and Justice Commission), parties like União Brasil changed their members so that the opinion of deputy Diego Garcia (Republicanos-PR) in favor of maintaining Zambeli’s mandate was rejected.
Bia Kicis praises Garcia’s opinion and says he wrote an excellent report. “We have examined the entire file and there is no evidence against Carla Zambelli that she hired the hacker. There is no such evidence,” he argues.
For the parliamentarian, the decision of the Chamber could be fundamental for his exit to Italy. “Back in Italy, her trial will take place on the 18th. And she will be able to provide the information that the Chamber of Deputies has not accepted her dismissal because it knows that her punishment, that her conviction is the result of political persecution,” he said.
