A massive operation was launched in Buenos Aires province on Tuesday, where judiciary and police forces carried out 117 simultaneous raids in 73 locations, as part of the sixth child protection operation. Objective: To disrupt online child sexual abuse, grooming and pedophilia networks, and comprehensively attack crimes associated with online harassment and the distribution, possession or production of child sexual abuse material (CAM). The operation, promoted by prosecutors specializing in grooming, pedophilia and child sexual abuse, sought to disrupt sex offender networks, pursue the distribution and production of child abuse material and prevent online sexual harassment.
The raids included the judicial departments of: Avellaneda Llanos, Azul, Bahía Blanca, Tres Arroyos, Dolores, Junín, La Matanza, La Plata, Lomas de Zamora, Esteban Echeverría, Ezeiza, Mar del Plata, Mercedes, Moreno-General Rodríguez, Moron, Necochea, Bergamino, Quilmes, San Isidro, San Martín, San. Nicolas and Trenc Lauquin Ministries Campana.
As a result, 112 people (103 men and 9 women), aged between 13 and 62 years, were investigated, including 3 minors who shared illegal materials. Of the participants, 4 worked with children and adolescents and 2 belonged to the security forces. 40 minors living with those investigated were identified.
During the procedures, 81 computers, 191 storage devices, 211 mobile phones and firearms were seized, and 32 digital screening operations were carried out to continue the investigation.
The operation involved the participation of prosecutors from all over the province, including María Laura Carballal and Mariano Mera (Avellaneda), María Fernanda Wilhelm and Oscar Medana (Llanos), Adrián Peretti and Deborah Marconi (Azul), Cecilia Corfield and Hugo Tison (La Plata), and several other specialists from Mar del Plata, La Matanza, Lomas de Zamora, Moron, Quilmes and San Jose. In addition, security forces and cybercrime experts, including the Buenos Aires Provincial Police, the Federal Police, the City Police and the Argentine Maritime Province, participated, with the aim of protecting children and adolescents from online sexual crimes.
The sixth edition of the operation confirms the state’s commitment to combating child sexual abuse, combining judicial work, coordinated police work and advanced technology to dismantle networks that harm children.
