More than 5 thousand families qualify for properties through Help to Buy in Porto Alegre

In total, 3,655 families in the capital have already signed a contract with the Caixa Econômica Federal to purchase property worth up to R$200,000, which has been registered directly in the name of the beneficiary resident.

On Friday (5), Porto Alegre crossed the mark of 5,427 families eligible to access the Subsidized Purchase Programme, a federal government initiative designed to help families affected by the 2024 flood. This progress comes as a result of intensive work carried out by teams from the Municipal Housing Administration (DEMHAB) and the Reconstruction and Climate Adaptation Office.

“In this latest list, the city of Porto Alegre saw an increase of 495 families. This makes us excited to see the success of our work,” confirmed Demhab’s General Manager, André Machado. He stressed that new lists will continue to be sent and beneficiaries will be directed to housing units in accordance with the rules of the federal program.

Help to Buy – According to Order of the Ministry of Cities No. 520 of June 5, 2024, the sixth Saturday of this month is the deadline for publishing the names of beneficiary households in the official list of the Caixa Econômica Federal. After this date, only families already on Caixa’s list will be able to continue searching and contracting for properties through the program.
