More than 500 CEU FP students participated this week in a AI Hackathon generative in collaboration with Amazon Web Services. The activity, which took place in parallel at the headquarters in Seville, Madrid and in the Valencian Community, gave students the opportunity … of FP to discover the transformative potential of artificial intelligence, promoting creativity, teamwork and employability.
During the day, students developed creative and functional applications using PartyRock, a free platform for Amazon Web Services (AWS) which allows you to develop generative AI applications without the need for technical programming knowledge. In this context, students shared their ideas, discovering how AI allows them to transform their ideas into concrete solutions.
The students, organized in teams of three to five people, belong to training cycles linked to technological developments such as Microcomputing Systems and Networks, Web Development, Multiplatform Development and Network Systems Administration. Likewise, students from other cycles such as Administrative Management, Administration and Finance, Marketing and Advertising, Sales and Management of Commercial Spaces, Imaging for Diagnostics and Nuclear Medicine, Oral Hygiene, 3D Animations, Games and Environments also participated. interactive, or the realization of projects and audiovisual shows, thus representing the diversity of profiles that make up CEU FP studies in Spain.
Throughout the day, the student teams worked on creating applications capable of meeting a real need – social, educational, health, creative or professional – or linked to their future professional activity. This approach allowed them to develop key skills such as critical thinking, innovation, effective communication and multidisciplinary collaboration.
The CEU FP Zone Director, Juan Ignacio de la Fuentehighlighted the importance of this type of initiatives within the CEU educational model: “Encouraging creativity, problem solving and teamwork through the creation of applications”. He also emphasized that with this type of activity, “we want them to experiment, propose solutions that meet social needs or those linked to their professional future and discover the transformative potential of these technologies.”
The day also had the active participation of teaching staff, both teachers specializing in PartyRock and those who accompanied the groups during the day.
“PartyRock’s goal is for students to not only understand the potential of generative AI, but also learn how to apply it to solve real-world cases related to their different professional fields. The students transformed their ideas into working prototypes with great creativity and surprising level in just a few hours,” said Iñaki Bilbao, head of the AWS Tech Alliance in Spain.
After several hours of planning and development by the students, the jury, composed of CEU FP professors, selected the three winning projects, one in each of the participating locations.
In Madrid, the event counted with the participation of Miguel López-Valverde, advisor for digitalization of the Community of Madrid, who said that “professional training is a great ally to respond to market challenges and provide quick and practical solutions.” For his part, Javier Tello, general director of the San Pablo CEU University Foundation, assured that “this hackathon demonstrates that technology, personal skills and teamwork are the best formula to prepare students for the job market.”
