The Mossos d’Esquadra and the National Police attribute two homicide attempts and five shootings to the Trinitarios gang faction that was decapitated on December 2, with the arrest of 19 people, including one of its leaders at the European level and one of the bosses in Catalonia. As detailed today by the two organizations, the joint operation carried out in the early hours of December 2 involved five firearms, numerous knives, drugs, 30,000 euros in cash, computer and telephone equipment and symbols associated with the Trinitarios gang, which they are investigating for several violent attacks for pay, two attempted homicides and drug trafficking.
The disbanded faction is linked to at least five violent gun attacks. The most notable were the shooting on June 8 in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, with one seriously injured, or that of last night in Sant Joan, in the industrial zone of Montigalà, in Badalona, where they opened fire on several people to steal chains and jewelry, two of whom were injured by a gun and one by a knife. Furthermore, as the Mossos and the Police indicated in a statement, on June 25, some of those investigated intercepted a young man who was riding a scooter in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat and shot him in the leg to rob him.
The joint investigation began in February, following an attempted homicide resulting from a violent robbery with a firearm in L’Hospitalet, during which a person who participated in the shooting was arrested. Following this violent episode, investigators were able to discover, identify and behead a faction of the Trinitarios based in Catalonia, which is allegedly linked to robberies with violence and intimidation, two attempted homicides and drug trafficking.

The gang, with defined roles and a distribution of functions among its members, was initially responsible for carrying out robberies with violence and intimidation: the leaders transmitted the objectives to the second level, who organized the lower members in the ranks to carry out surveillance, usually in nightclubs with a Latin atmosphere, where the hits were carried out.
According to investigators, to commit the robberies, they usually waited for the victims to leave the nightlife areas and attacked them, on at least five occasions using firearms. As the investigation progressed, the Mossos and the police verified that the group was also engaged in drug trafficking, an activity coordinated by free members and other members who were in prison at the time.
For this reason, in collaboration with prison officials and agents of the Mossos Prison Environment Unit, the apparatus also searched seven cells and three penitentiary centers in which some members of the group were temporarily incarcerated. The police operation was carried out in Barcelona, L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, Esplugues de Llobregat, Sant Boi de Llobregat, Cubelles and Salou and during it, 19 people, between 18 and 49 years old, were arrested, and 17 houses and three premises linked to the people investigated were searched.
