The President of the Chamber of Deputies, Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB), ordered the continuation of the escort of the deputy Talíria Petrone (PSOL-RJ) until there is a final decision on the request for reconsideration presented by the parliamentarian. The measure comes after the suspension of the service.
The escort was suspended by order signed last Monday, on the basis of a technical opinion from the Directorate of the Federal Legislative Police (DPLF) rendered on December 4. The document takes into account information from the Federal Police, the Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro and the State Public Ministry, according to which there are no recurring threats or current risk for the physical integrity of the deputy.
After the repercussion, Motta informed, through his advisor, that he was in contact with Talíria and that the subject would be re-evaluated in light of the precedents of the House and the new information presented by the deputy. Meanwhile, the president ordered the escort to continue.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Talíria said she was surprised by the removal of protection during a week of tension in the House. According to her, she first tried to contact the president without success, which increased her apprehension.
“A short time ago I received a call from the Speaker of the House informing him that he would accept the appeal regarding my escort, guaranteeing the return of conditions to exercise the mandate in complete safety. We will continue to be mobilized until this decision is officially canceled,” the deputy wrote in her publication.
The suspension of the escort was made official by order of the Presidency of the House, which cites Office Law No. 213/2025, a rule that sets deadlines and provides for the periodic review of the protection service. The document specifies that the continuation of the escort depends on the persistence of the reasons which led to its granting, but emphasizes that the decision is not final and can be revised.
