The President of the Chamber of Deputies, Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB), commented, this Monday (15/12), on the fate of the mandates of Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP), who is in the United States, and Alexandre Ramagem (PL-RJ), on the run in the same country.
Both are on the verge of losing their positions, but by different routes. Last week, Motta said, during a press conference, that Eduardo would lose his position due to an accumulation of absences, in a process that can be decreed directly by the Board of Directors of the Chamber. This is what happened, for example, with Chiquinho Brazão (no party-RJ), in April this year.
Ramagem’s case would depend on a plenary vote, requiring 257 votes in favor of impeachment, as was the case for MP Carla Zambelli (PL-SP), imprisoned in Italy, who ended up having her mandate preserved by deputies and, later, resigned from her post.
“We are doing our best so that a position on the Ramagem case can be taken before the holidays,” Motta said.
Regarding Eduardo, Motta said that “the deadline is approaching.” The parliamentarian can now have his mandate revoked for absences, after failing to participate in a third of the sessions of the Chamber, but the president granted a deadline until Wednesday (17/12) for the defense to present the justifications for his absences.
