Former PNV President Andoni Ortuzar Arruabarrena will join the management board of Telefónica Audiovisual Digital, SLU, the parent company that operates the subscription television platform Movistar Plus+. Ortuzar, a professional journalist, has worked in media such as Déia or in the direction of Hi TB before occupying political positions within his party, of which he left the leadership in 2025.
Ortuzar was replaced as president of Euzkadi Buru Batzar of the PNV in March 2025 following a convulsive internal process during which the unexpected opposition of his close collaborator and friend Aitor Esteban arose. Finally, who has led the main Basque party in recent years, he renounced the re-election he aspired to and the confrontation against Esteban. Since then he has participated in a few internal events, the last one a few weeks ago in Sukarrieta. The Basque politician also joined the consultancy firm Price Waterhouse Coopers last September as an external advisor.
The PNV number, Maitane Ipiñazar, asked that the news be considered with “total normality,” saying that Ortuzar “has every right to follow his professional path.” He added that Telefónica has added value to its “experience” and “bagaje” in audiovisual media, which it considers completely natural, and said: “We have more life than ever in political travel.
The board of directors of Movistar Plus+ will also integrate Marcos Contreras Manrique, member of the board of directors of CriteriaCaixa (second largest shareholder of Telefónica behind SEPI) since 2012, and who has a wide range of investments, business management and decision-making in regulated sectors. He has been an advisor to entities such as Banca Cívica, Caser Seguros and Deóleo, and currently has offices in Hidralia and Cetursa Sierra Nevada.
Complete renovation of the board of directors
These incorporations are summed up in an intense renewal of the board of directors of Telefónica Audiovisual Digital throughout the year 2025 since the arrival of Marc Murtra as president of Telefónica in 2018. Last week saw the entry to the board of Daniel Clivillé, replacing Verónica Pascual, a Catalan director with whom Murtra had coincided in several companies such as Karibou and Crea Inversión.
The board of directors of Telefónica Audiovisual Digital was completely renewed this year, given that with the exception of María Yolanda Barcina Angulo (appointed in July 2016) and Rosauro Varo (president since July 2023), the rest of the votes in the supreme decision-making body of the branch were appointed in 2025.
The most important change in the Movistar+ management board since the arrival of Marc Murtra as president of Telefónica has been the appointment of Javier de Paz as president of the organization since last March, when he replaced Sergio Oslé (who will soon become the new executive president of Mediapro). Another of the changes introduced in the management structure of Movistar+ since the arrival of Murtra at Telefónica has been the appointment of Daniel Domenjó as delegated advisor of Movistar+, a position in which he replaces Cristina Burzako, recently registered by the American fund Providence.
