The Public Ministry of the Federal District (MPDFT) opened a civil investigation to investigate the provision of services by Distribuidora Neoenergia Brasília, which showed failures in the areas of Jardim Botânico (DF), Lago Oeste (DF) and Sobradinho (DF).
In the order published in the Official Journal of the Union (DOU) this Wednesday (10/12), the Prosecutor’s Office requests maximum urgency for a meeting with representatives of Neoenergia.

According to the MP, the inaugural stage of the situation was the opening, by the 3rd Prosecutor’s Office for Consumer Protection, of several procedures related to several files of consumer complaints concerning the non-provision of the electricity supply service.
Residents claimed in their complaints that the falls had been happening for years and several times a day, especially on rainy days.
Taking into account the rights of consumers and the need for the functioning of the public service, the deputy decided to open a civil investigation to investigate the behavior of Neoenergia in order to resolve the problems of residents of the disputed regions.
According to the deputy, according to data from the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel), there has been a significant improvement in energy supply continuity indicators in the Federal District since Neoenergia Brasília took over the concession in 2021, highlighting the 43% reduction in the average time without energy (DEC) over the last four years.
Aneel said that in 2024, DF consumers spent 5.04 hours without electricity per year, while the national average was 10.24 hours. This means that Brasilia has one of the best rates in the country, with 99.94% of the hours of the year with a continuous offer.
Despite the Agency’s data, the MPDFT will continue the civil investigation to resolve the issues.
Neoenergia was contacted for comment on the civil investigation, but has not responded to date.
