
My dear Héctor, I have been asked to write a few words about you on this day of deep emotion. Just a few hours ago, your dear Tita called me to tell me that you are gone and since then I have been traveling from sadness for the loss of the friend and the artist, to the joy of having had, appreciated and admired you. It is very difficult to condense in a few words the excellent relationship that we have had for 22 years and the great admiration that I have always professed to you.
We started working together by putting on stage Me Claudeby Robert Graves, in a version by Alonso de Santos and directed by José Carlos Plaza, and premiered at the Teatro Romano in Mérida. A great job for a great actor in a great theater, the biggest theater in Spain.
From there was born a great friendship and a close professional bond which led us to other extraordinary professions. The tunnel, Adaptation by Diego Curatella of the work of Ernesto Sábato, directed by Daniel Veronese. In the golden pondby Ernest Thompson, adapted by Emilio Hernández and directed by Magüi Mira. This show is very special for me because you shared the stage with the woman with whom I have been on stage for the longest time, with the great Lola Herrera, who told me some time ago that you were the best partner she had on the Spanish stage. The fatherby Florian Zeller, version and direction by Jose Carlos Plaza. Also Juan Pablo Heras González’s stage adaptation of The Etruscan smile by José Luis Sampedro directed by Jose Carlos Plaza.
And montage by montage, we arrive at our last collaboration and, perhaps, the one that brought me closer to you: a little story. All our jobs have been a journey towards friendship, but this last one was very special because you put yourself in the hands of Ángela Bacaicoa, your beloved Tita, and you shared with the public moments of your life as important as that of fifty years ago, when you came to Spain to present a film and when you wanted to return home there was no return plane for you. For two years we traveled around Spain and for two years you insisted to me that it was very important for you to continue working to continue living.
My dear Héctor, we will no longer work together, but I have, we have, your great human and professional legacy, and you leave your mark on your children, Malena and Ernesto, who are undoubtedly called to be as great as you.
You left as you lived, with the greatest discretion and with the affection of the public and the profession.
