The midfielder of FC Barcelona and the Spanish team Aitana Bonmatí is immersed in her recovery after a fractured fibula for which he had to be operated on at the beginning of December. A few weeks after this complicated moment, the footballer is already looking forward to 2026 with positivity and the desire to return to the field.
“It’s the first big injury I’ve had. Because I’ve had other small ones, like that, muscle tears for a month, a month and a half, it’s been a long time since I had thatand I had to suffer this broken fibula and ligaments. But these are sporting things,” Bonmatí told ESPN.
“I’m trying to deal with it as best I can. I’m taking advantage of this time to be more for myself“Yes, calmer, more with my people and doing different things,” added the triple Ballon d’Or, injured before the Nations League final that Spain won against Germany on December 2 in Madrid.
Bonmatí, fixed on the Spanish team and Barcelona, with a vast calendar of titles and competitions, valued this load of matches to assimilate his injury. “The truth is that I look back and spent many years at a very high level, almost without rest, and play virtually everything, so that in addition to many victories and many good times, there is also significant wear and tear,” he noted.
“So I try to take it in a positive way: It’s a break that life gave me to come back better and surely to take advantage of the time that I didn’t have before”, added Bonmatí, who hopes to return to training in April and not miss the rest of the season.
“My goal right now is to get back to play before the end of this season; I don’t think any further. I think it’s a good goal because the deadlines, if they go well, must be like that, and my idea is to play again before the end of the season,” he concluded.
