National Front: The militia used gas and gas to force voters in Royal Jordanian

The Federal Police (PF), with the support of the Public Ministry of the State of Rio de Janeiro (MPRJ), launched an operation, on Tuesday (2/12), against a criminal organization operating in an organized manner to unjustifiably interfere with the democratic process in the municipality of Macaé, North Fluminense (RJ).

In this action, dubbed Operation Nova Capistrum, federal police officers executed 21 search and seizure warrants, 16 of them in the municipality of Macaé and five in the state of Paraíba. Legal action was taken against the main organizers of the scheme, including businessmen, politicians and public servants.

Investigations were conducted to investigate the role of criminal organizations and militias in voter coercion, illegal campaign financing, and the introduction of representatives into municipal public authority.

Extensive and organized layout

Police investigations revealed that companies linked to the suspects entered into contracts with Mackay City Council and the Municipal Council, and were used as tools for money laundering and political favoritism.

The investigation also investigated the role of criminal factions and militias in voter coercion, illegal campaign financing, and the insertion of representatives into municipal public authority through political, financial, and regional support for the then-elected candidates.

Furthermore, investigations revealed the use of underground Internet companies, known as “gatonet,” and gas distributors in local communities in Macae and Paraíba for illicit activities. Practices such as embezzlement, illicit electoral funds and threats against independent candidates have also been found.

Objectives

The operation targets individuals with a strong role in drug trafficking and leaders of a paramilitary group (drug militias) with territorial control over local communities, in addition to others who are being investigated for suspicious financial transactions.

According to data from the Financial Activities Oversight Council (Coaf) report, the total operations amount to hundreds of millions of riyals.
