The new board of directors National Futsal League (LNF) appointed this Tuesday (15) the executive Ricardo Commerce as the first CEO of Brazil’s main futsal competition.
Trade, who during his career led Brazil’s two major sports megaprojects, the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Olympics, was chosen by NFL President Felipe Drommond to lead the league for the next four years.
“I received the invitation with great joy and immediately agreed to be part of the transformation of the NFL and Brazilian futsal,” the executive said in a statement. “It will be a reunion with sport, since I participated in the Futsal League in the early 2000s.”
Most recently, Trade also served as CEO of the 2024 Copa América and Vice President of Operations for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, in addition to collaborating on Brazil’s successful bid to host the 2027 Women’s World Cup.
Created in 1996, the NFL is the largest futsal league in the Americas and one of the largest in the world. This year, Jaraguá has been a six-time champion after beating Corinthians last Saturday (13).
The 2025 edition of the NFL benefited from naming rights from Cresol, sponsorship from Umbro and Casa de Apostas, as well as multi-platform transmission via cable television channels and digital platforms.
