
Although the unstable weather and storm forecasts moderated the decision to travel to some destinations, the number of tourists who mobilized for them over the long weekend Immaculate Conception Day growth 43.5% compared to the same period in 2023 (there was no public holiday in 2024).
According to data from the Argentine Confederation of Medium Enterprises (CAME), 1,377,810 tourists traveled through the country, a figure that consolidates this date as one of the moments of greatest mobility before the summer. The average stay was two nights, up from 2.6 days in 2023. a trend that is associated with reduced purchasing power and the increase in low-budget getaways.
The average daily spending per tourist was $90,495, 8.8% higher in real terms than in 2023. A total of $249.37 billion was spent, a real increase of 20.1%. The most visited destinations were the cities of Buenos Aires, Mar del Plata, Córdoba, Puerto Iguazú, Mendoza and Ushuaia, as well as the religious centers of the north such as Salta, Tucumán, Jujuy and Corrientes.
There have been eight long weekends so far this year, with 13.3 million tourists and a $2.97 trillion (US$2.03 billion) economic movement, benefiting thousands of SMEs in the sector.
Buenos Aires Province. Mar del Plata closed with over 60% occupancy thanks to the spontaneous arrival of visitors. La Plata achieved between 90% and 100% due to its musical agenda (Andrés Calamaro, Los fundamentalistas del aireconditiono)which triggered demand for temporary rental properties.
City of Buenos Aires. It received 107,000 visitors and had an economic impact of $27 billion. Hotel occupancy averaged 76%, the second best record of the year.
Catamarca. Moderate flow supported by the attractiveness of the landscape and heritage.
Cordova. Intense agenda across the province, with strong movement in Villa Carlos Paz, Villa General Belgrano and La Cumbrecita. Sporting events such as Valle Running also attracted visitors.
Chaco. Low occupancy due to weather and seasonality. The daily cost was around $65,000.
Chubut. Good activity, with 65% hotel occupancy and longer stays (three nights).
currents. The movement was driven by religious tourism, particularly towards Itatí. The initial 55% reservations grew with last minute arrivals.
Between rivers. Moderate performance after the boom of the previous holiday. Bookings started at around 50%.
Formosa. Relevant movement with a daily spend of $90,000 and an average stay of two nights.
Jujuy. La Quebrada once again concentrated the greatest demand with an occupancy rate of 76%. Daily spending was $113,371 and the average stay was 1.7 nights.
The pampas. Moderate exercise associated with festivals and rural tourism.
Rioja. Initial reservations of 36%, increasing among regional tourists. Daily cost of $85,000 and two night stay.
Mendoza. Significant movement, driven by events and its wine and nature offerings. Average daily spending: $90,000.
Missions. Puerto Iguazú was once again the main hub with a strong presence of domestic and foreign tourists. The occupancy rate averaged 45%.
Neuquen. Good exercise in mountain destinations like San Martín de los Andes and Villa La Angostura. Average spending: $80,000 daily.
Black River. Strong activity both in Bariloche and on the Atlantic coast (Las Grutas and Playas Doradas).
Jump. Moderate and constant exercise driven by adventure and nature goals.
Saint John. Moderate tourism, characterized by bad weather and cautious reservations that did not exceed 50%.
St. Louis. Moderate weekend with booking rates starting at 41% and rising until Saturday. Daily expenses of $81,552.
Holy Cross. Stable river related to nature tourism, Patagonian culture and outdoor activities.
Santa Fe. More than 40 events and an average occupancy of 64%, with peaks of up to 75% in the capital cities. Average stay: 2.3 nights.
Santiago del Estero. Initial reservations of 60% with subsequent increases. Daily expenses of $90,000 and an economic impact of almost $3000 million.
Land of Fire. Very good weekend with 73% occupancy, three-day stay and daily spend of $317,000 per visitor.
Tucuman. Positive balance, with the movement focusing on San Miguel, Tafí del Valle and traditional destinations. Daily expenses: $80,000.
