Nick Reinerthe son of Rob Reiner And Michelle SingerHe was formally accused of murdering his parents on Sunday afternoon.
As reported diversityis accused of him two counts that carry a maximum sentence of life in prison without parole or the death penalty. The update was confirmed by Nathan HochmanLos Angeles District Attorney.
“Prosecuting these cases involving family members is one of the most heartbreaking and challenging tasks this office faces because the crimes involved are intimate and often brutal in nature,” Hochman said at a news conference.
The 32-year-old man has been in custody without bail since Sunday Twin Towers Correctional Facility from Los Angeles.
The same source stated that Nick Reiner was expected to make his first court appearance on Tuesday, but he was not moved from jail because his attorney, Alan Jacksontold reporters that he did not have “medical clearance” to stand trial.
On Sunday at 3:40 p.m., Los Angeles police found the lifeless bodies of film director Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer in their Brentwood mansion.
It was his daughter Romy who found the bodies with stab wounds. His death was immediately investigated killing and a few hours later Nick was arrested. His sister is said to have identified him as a possible perpetrator by describing him as a “dangerous” person.
Nick, who had a history of drug abuse and was homeless, had argued with his parents at a Christmas party the night before. It is understood Rob and Michele insisted he undergo treatment again.
Rob Reiner became known as an actor and director of several renowned films in Hollywood. He directed films such as When Harry Met Sally, Misery, The Princess Bride and Stand By Me.
