The children rescued this Sunday are expected to be handed over to authorities in Niger State, in the north-central part of the country, on Monday 12/8.
Despite relief efforts, the Nigerian government has failed to report on the children’s health. Besides them, teachers were also kidnapped on this occasion.
Attack
In total, last month’s attack resulted in the abduction of 303 children, according to the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN). Students and teachers were put on buses and taken away by criminals. The episode occurred around 3 a.m.
The school is close to a region where armed gangs operate from large forest areas. In Maga, Kebbi State, days earlier, 25 students were also kidnapped, leading to the closure of more than 50 schools the day before the Papiri attack.
