After the Chamber of Deputies decided, Wednesday evening (12/10), to suspend the mandate of Glauber Braga (PSol-RJ) for six months, deputy Nikolas Ferreira (PL-MG) criticized the right-wing allies who supported the maneuver which prevented the dismissal of the psolist.
In a publication on See the message:

The protest took place after the vote that changed the expected outcome of the case. The Ethics Council had recommended Glauber’s dismissal and ineligibility for eight years, but a PSol amendment replacing loss of mandate with suspension received expressive support from the plenary. The proposal was approved by 318 votes to 141.
Seven deputies from the PL – the party that officially defended the impeachment – voted in favor of the amendment: Altineu Côrtes (RJ), Bibo Nunes (RS), Fernando Rodolfo (PE), Helio Lopes (RJ), Ícaro Valmir (SE), João Carlos Bacelar (BA) and Pastor Gil (MA). This divergence opened an internal conflict within the party.
In a speech from the podium, MP Bibo Nunes explained that he supported the suspension because he believed that the plenary would not reach the 257 votes needed to confirm the impeachment. According to the MP, if the amendment were rejected and the original report was taken up again, there would not be enough votes for any of the sanctions, which would end with no sanctions for Glauber. He therefore declared that he had chosen to “at least guarantee the suspension”.

This choice, however, provoked an immediate reaction. The leader of the PL in the House, Sóstenes Cavalcante (RJ), dismissed Bibo Nunes from the vice leadership of the party after his mandate in the plenary.

Another MP who justified the vote in favor of Glauber’s suspension was Kim Kataguiri (União-SP). Following the same line as Bibo’s explanation, he said the choice happened because there were not enough votes for impeachment.
“We didn’t have enough votes for impeachment, if we lost this vote Glauber wouldn’t be punished either. Do you need me to draw it?” the X MP wrote.
Glauber Braga case
The lawsuit which reached the plenary accuses the deputy of breach of decorum. In April 2024, he expelled from the seat of the Chamber Gabriel Costenaro, activist of the Free Brazilian Movement (MBL). Glauber claims to have reacted after the activist offended his mother, Saudade Braga, former mayor of Nova Friburgo (RJ), now deceased.
In April this year, the congressman began an eight-day hunger strike in a House committee. He alleged political persecution and said he was the target of a statement by former Speaker of the House Arthur Lira (PP-AL). The Alagoas man denies the accusations.
Riot the day before
After seven months of inactivity, Motta announced on Tuesday (September 12) that he would vote on Glauber’s impeachment request this Wednesday. The parliamentarian, in turn, reacted by occupying the Board of Directors of the Chamber and ended up being forcibly expelled by the Legislative Police.
While the MP was in the Speaker’s chair, official transmissions were interrupted. Servers and journalists had access to the plenary session blocked, and press professionals reported attacks by the Legislative Police. Motta’s performance was the target of criticism on the networks and by associations in the category.
